2018 is officially here! so, today I’m going to share my favourite beauty products from 2017. The products I used all year round or I have repurchased…
The Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer is my must-have hair product. I use it to defrizz my hair, use it as a heat protectant and even a finishing oil to stop flyaways. This leaves your hair incredibly soft and shiny and not to mention it leaves your hair smelling great too. Throughout 2017 I consistently used four products for my makeup base…
I prefer lightweight foundations, so I feel like it’s no surprise that my favourite foundation of the year is Mac Face&Body. Super lightweight and looks like healthy skin. I used this on its own and if I needed more coverage, I applied two or three layers without looking cakey. I also really like to mix it into my moisturiser, for a tinted moisturiser and added an extra glow. My concealer duo of the year is Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer and the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer. If I had a bad breakout before I discovered the Sensual Skin Enhancer, I basically gave up covering it before I even started applying concealer, as the redness was never covered, instead, it looked super cakey. The Sensual Skin Enhancer is amazing! extremely high coverage, I use a pinpoint technique with a small lip brush to cover the blemish, and then gently blend it in and the redness disappears, the small container will honestly last forever as I have been using it for at least half the year and I’ve hardly made a dent in it. For concealing around my nose and under my eyes the Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer is my favourite, lightweight, creamy and high coverage. It’s not a super matte finish so even dry skin can use this, I also love using it as an eyeshadow primer as it doesn’t crease and prevents my eyelids from getting oily. When I started using the Bobbi Brown Corrector for my dark circles I noticed the difference straight away. My under eyes look brighter and more awake, it doesn’t crease or make your under eyes look heavy and cakey. I sometimes use this on it’s on for a no-makeup makeup look.
I love highlighting! I feel like it’s a step in my makeup routine I wouldn’t miss out. My number one highlighter that I use every day even if that means under a powder highlighter or on its own is the Marc Jacobs Glow Stick. No glitter, just glossy looking skin. If I want a blinding highlight my most used is the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in the shade MOONLIGHT. This liquid metal highlighter can be used under foundation, mixed with foundation and moisturiser and under powder highlight or on its own. You only need the tiniest amount so this small bottle will last you for a very long time. For contour, I used the Charlotte Tilbury Film Star Bronze&Glow. Looks natural and is the perfect in-between of warm and cool tones, so I used this as bronzer and contour basically every single day.
One palette I found myself reaching for the most was the Tarte Tartelette In Bloom. Literally the perfect neutrals palette, this palette makes it so effortless to achieve a smokey eye or an everyday look. Its also super pigmented with buttery smooth mattes and foil finish metallics. One mascara I re-bought the most in 2017 was the Maybelline Push-up Angle Mascara. This separates and lengthens the lashes without clumps, for me, this is the ultimate mascara.
Brows are so important! The eyebrow pencil I loved the most was the Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil. It has a really small pencil so you can create hair-like strokes and fill in gaps without looking overdrawn. I love a natural, fluffy eyebrow so the Maybelline Brow Precise has been a permanent part of my eyebrow routine in 2017. It’s the best dupe I have found for the Benefit Gimme Brow, makes your eyebrows look fuller and fills in small gaps. To lock my brows in place I used the Benefit Ready, Set, Brow clear brow gel. This makes sure your eyebrows don’t move during the day and lasts until you take your makeup off at night.
Glossier’s The Balm Dotcom is one of the best lip balms ever! I use this every day religiously. My favourite flavour is the mint. It tingles when you apply and has saved my lips in the colder weather. Not only that it can be used on dry skin and not just lips, making it a must for my handbag. Garnier Micellar water is my favourite makeup remover of all time, I always go back to it. It makes taking makeup off so much easier, simple but makes life so much better especially when removing mascara!
