I know I say it every month, but where has this year gone! Anyway, it’s now September and Autumn is literally around the corner. So, here’s what I was loving in August…
The Mario Badescu Facial Spray…
has been my go to for using after acid toner (Pixi Glow Tonic), setting my makeup and refreshing my skin throughout the day. It always makes your skin feel refreshed and soothed and because it doesn’t leave my face with droplets, as it has more of a fine spray I can use it over my makeup without it making my mascara run. The Cover FX Enhancer Drops in Moonlight is the most stunning highlighter I have ever tried! I’m not the biggest fan of very glittery highlighters, this one gives a more glossy, dewy look to the skin. Also because there are so many ways to use it and you only need the tiniest amount, it is so worth the money! I have an oily T-Zone and I hate using silicone primers every day as I feel they clog up my pores. So, I was on the hunt for a more liquid primer for mattifying my skin, I stumbled across the Mac Skin Refined Zone. I have used this almost every day since getting it. The key to using this is to apply a thin layer, you can see your skin turning matte and pores disappear almost instantly. I also like using this on blemishes as it makes concealer really stick to the blemish and it retexturizes the skin too, giving you a smooth canvas for foundation.
Recently I have got more into using blush and because of the What’s In My Makeup Bag series posts, I have gone back to Mac Melba Blush. It’s a great pinky peach shade that goes with almost all makeup looks and gives a healthy glow to your cheeks. The Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer has been a life saver this month. I’ve had a bit of a breakout on my cheeks and this has totally covered all redness and lasted all day. I also love using it under my eyes especially when I haven’t had a good night sleep. You only need a very small amount so I believe it’s very worth the money, as it will probably last a very long time. Filling in my eyebrows is one part of my makeup routine I just couldn’t miss, after trying the Precisely, My Brow Pencil from Benefit I haven’t stopped. The pencil is tiny and is amazing for creating hair like strokes, I love using it for creating a natural fluffy eyebrow. It has just the right amount of pigment so you can decide how bold you want your brows to be.
Two eye brushes that I have only been using is the NYX 17 (top) and 16 (bottom) brushes. The 17 brush is perfect to precision blending in the crease and 16 is great for transition shades and over all blending. They are both super soft and equal quality to Real Techniques and other more expensive makeup brush brands, I would highly recommend!
