Guide to smokey eyes

I remember doing my first smokey eye, you guessed it didn’t turn out like I wanted it to, basically I looked like a panda! Here are a few tips and tricks to help you get the perfect smokey eye.

1.not ready for a full smokey

Ok, start off small and then build. Use a black eyeliner(I use the NYX jumbo eye pencil in black bean) and draw a line on your upper lash line, then take a small smudger brush and blend it out. Repeat this to your desired smokey-ness!

Blending is the most important part of a smokey eye, this is were most people go wrongs. First after applying your primer apply a shadow close to your skin tone or a translucent powder on top, this will make it easier to blend and give the eyeshadow something to blend into. Use a clean fluffy dome shaped brush to blend( I love the real techniques deluxe crease brush)

3.have fun add colour

Smokey eyes aren’t just about black, a warm brown or even a grey smokey eye will make it less harsh and more wearable for the day time. Warm brown smokey eyes are perfect for the day time without looking harsh or to bold.

Add a bit of sparkle the centre of your lid and blend out across the lid to make your eyes pop, make it a colour glitter like emerald green or gold. Put colour in your crease like a orange or pink.

Remember to blend, blend and blend if you find the shadows tend to have fall out while you blend do your eyes first or apply tape from your lower lash line to the tip of your brow to get a clean line. Neutral pinks and nude work best with smokey eyes.

Great tutorial! My first smokey eye was done by a professional MUA. It really looked great on me. I tried achieving the same look the day after and gosh, I looked like a panda. I had to send her sms and ask for a video tutorial hahaha ✽_✽ ❤︎ laineyloveslife
