Minimal Summer Makeup

Surprisingly in Scotland it has been warmer these past few days (let me tell you that’s a rare thing) so my makeup has become more minimal and focused on making my skin look like it’s glowing from within, rather than a bold lipstick and eyeshadow. In today’s post I’m going to show you my minimal makeup routine for the summer months…

I have super oily skin, so I use a mattifying primer to keep my oil and pores at bay. I don’t  tend to wear concealer. But a must have is the ysl touche eclat radiant touch in shade 1, I use this under my eyes as it has a peachy undertone , so it cancels out my dark circles and brightens, it’s also super light weight and doesn’t crease.

I then always do my brows, to keep it simple I like to use a brow gel, I use one that will build my brows slightly and add a bit more shape. Benefit Gimme Brow is perfect for this. It has a tiny brush and is easy to control, keeps my brows tamed all day. When summer hits I turn to long lasting eye products that stay even if my lids get oily. The Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon In Champagne Diamonds is my go-to. I just use this like liner on my top lid, to add a bit of sparkle that won’t melt away (The Colour Chameleons honestly do budge!) I can’t skip mascara, it opens up your eyes and I feel finishes off your makeup look, even if it’s minimal makeup. The Loreal Baby Roll Mascara I have been using constantly at the minute. But if you have water proof mascara I would probably use that if you have oily lid (I have oily lids, but I hate taking water proof mascara off). When doing minimal makeup I like a mascara that adds volume without clumps for a more natural look.

All-in-one palettes makes your makeup easy, simple and fast. The Urban Decay Flushed palette in Native is perfect. The bronzer makes your skin look sun kissed. The Barbie Pink blush when used lightly looks really flattering and natural. The highlighter is very dewy and very easy to build (if you want to be seen from space you can with this highlighter!). When I’m trying to achieve a minimal makeup look I prefer using a gloss or creamy lipstick. It looks more youthful and more natural. The NYX Butter Gloss in Vanilla Creme Pie is a pretty medium pink, that will go with any outfit or eyeshadow you choose.

What’s your must have minimal makeup product?
